V. We interviewed individuals to see what their response would be to my plan. Their responses are as follows.
Interviewed by Namita Parikh: Sandeep Parikh: "I agree with your solution to this problem. Making a law
stating that the women cannot undergo an abortion after the first trimester
is the best way to stop women for murdering innocent babies." Interviewed on Sunday, February 20th, 2011
Prachi Gandhi: "I agree with this bill because after the first trimester it's
really late and getting an abortion would be considered murder. I say that
prior to the first trimester women should be allowed to undergo abortion
because it's not fair if they were raped, but after the first trimester, women
should know for sure that they are pregnant and the baby is formed by that
time. So yes it should be illegal after the first trimester to get an abortion." Interviewed on Monday, February 21st, 2011

What do you think about abortion?
"I think that there should not be abortions since you are killing a human. That is not it but also due to emotional and physical scars that will be with you forever."- Guadalupe Nunez
"No. Not at all. There should be no abortion at all, under any circumstances."- Rebeca Perez
Why?
"You are killing a child, even if it might not be a child at the time, eventually it will become one. It was your responsibility to have sexual intercourse; it is your responsibility to take care of the baby. There are consequences to what you do and you have to deal with them whether you like them or not."- Guadalupe Nunez
"No! Why? Didn't you have sexual intercourse knowing that there are consequences to that? A life is precious and should not be taken away from someone that is irresponsible." Rebeca Perez
What if the woman having the abortion gets raped?
"I would have to say that there should be a choice for this situation. If you don't want the child to suffer and you don't want yourself to suffer, then if you want to abort it is okay. Other than this situation there should be no abortion."- Guadalupe Nunez
"No. That is not the soon to be child's choice to be exterminated. You should keep the child because he didn't choose to be given birth. Enough said."- Rebeca Perez

Mrs. Krotz says: I don't believe in abortion I believe it is wrong to kill a baby. Even though the baby hasn't been born yet it shouldn't have to pay for the mothers irresponsibility. I do not agree with your bill because i believe all forms of abortion is wrong even if the baby is in the first trimester.
Mr. Krotz says: I agree with abortion only if its in first trimester. If a baby was to be aborted I can only see someone doing it before the first 3 months of pregnancy.

1. If you knew that a fetus officially became a live baby after three months [first trimester] of pregnancy, how would you feel about abortion [being legal after the first trimester] ?]]1. If you knew that a fetus officially became a live baby after three months [first trimester] of pregnancy, how would you feel about abortion [being legal after the first trimester] ?
A. I think after the first trimester it would be considered murder since a fetus has a heartbeat. I would say no more abortions after the first trimester. But if it is absolutely necessary for the individual to have an abortion they should have it before the end of the first trimester.
B. I believe that abortions should be illegal in general. Individuals should take responsibility for the new life regardless of anything.
2. Do you think the same sentence for murders should be applied to those who get abortions?
A. No way. It may technically be murder but the same sentence would be too extreme. Maybe sometime in jail or a large fine.
B. No. That is rediculous. Some of the girls getting abortions are as young as 14. Jail for life or any of the extremes would be inappropriate.
3. Do you agree that our bill at least compromises both sides [Those who are for and against abortion] and settles this highly controversial issue somewhat peacefully?
A. Yes I would vote and support your bill
B.Well since you put it that way, that is is a compromise, then yes. I agree.
VI. Our answers, based on our research, to their objections and concerns are:
We interviewed others for feedback on our plan, and their responses are as follows:
Eight people responded to our questions about abortion. Though each unique, most agreed with our bill but also had their own thoughts and oppinions on the issue at hand.
All of the eight individuals who shared their thoughts on abortion all displayed their similar distaste in having abortions, however when interviewed more closely about certain scenarious [such as rape] they all agreed that the choice should be availabe in the mother's hand. They also agreed that that choice should only be available for a limited amount of time so that the privillege would not be taken advantage of . Most oppinionated that abortion is a form of murder, even despite the fact that the fetus has yet to develop a heartbeat in the first trimester. One individual, Rebecca Perez, when asked about circumstances under rape, stated, "No. That is not the soon to be child's choice to be exterminated. You should keep the child because he didn't choose to be given birth. Enough said." This is an example of many evidence to back up the title of murder for abortion.
For some who did not object against the statement as abortion being a form of murder, they did agree that sometimes it is necessary. Abortion is necessary in cases like rape, birth deffects, and or cases where the parents will not be able to care for the child. Mrs. Manzano stated a similar thought of many, "I think after the first trimester it would be considered murder since a fetus has a heartbeat. I would say no more abortions after the first trimester. But if it is absolutely necessary for the individual to have an abortion they should have it before the end of the first trimester". This supports our bill as to why abortion should only be legal after the first trimester.
Bottom line is, yes, abortion can be seen as murder however abortion is a different experience, scenario, and situation for everyone. You never know the situation or the people abortion is being dealt with. There are cases of irresponsible teenagers practicing unsafe sex, cases of rape, and cases where the baby will not be able to be taken care of. No matter the situation, abortion is a fragile topic but also applies differently to people all over America. In some ways abortion os a belssing and a curse. Some argue it should be forbidden because it is murder and others say it should be the decision of the individual at hand. Both sides clearly show their logic but the best way for Americans to settle this is with a compromise that satisfies both sides. Our bill does just that. It allows abortion to be attainable but only for a limited time up to where it is not technically considered murder and that is the best compromise for America.
